Finding us

Where the workshop is, and how to get your watch to it.

The workshop is at 6 Poorsland Barn, Slaidburn, Lancashire, BB7 3AE — in the Ribble Valley. It is a working watch repair workshop rather than a shop, so there is no counter and no window display. What there is instead is a bench, the TAG Heuer parts account, the pressure testing equipment and the watchmakers who do the work.

Most customers never come here. Watches arrive by post from every part of the country and go back the same way, insured, and the whole job is handled by email and telephone. If you would rather hand yours over in person you are very welcome to — we just ask that you telephone first so somebody is expecting you and the watch is not sitting on a bench while you wait.

Three ways to get a TAG Heuer to us.

Post it to us

Send it insured, by a tracked service, to the workshop address on this page. Most watches reach us the next working day. Insured return delivery is already included in every price we quote.

We collect it

If you would rather not post it yourself, we can arrange an insured collection from your home or work for £15. You will be given a date and the watch is covered door to door.

Bring it in

Drop-offs at Slaidburn are welcome by appointment, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Telephone 01200 760957 and we will find a time that suits.

What happens after you get in touch.

  1. You tell us what the watch is and what it is doing. The model, roughly how old it is, and the problem — stopped, losing time, chipped glass, a crown that has come away. A photograph helps but is not essential.
  2. We give you an indication of cost and how to send it. This is a guide, not a bill, and it commits you to nothing.
  3. The watch arrives and is inspected properly. Only once it is open can anyone say with certainty what it needs.
  4. You get a written estimate before a single part is touched. If it is more than we first indicated, we explain why and wait for your answer. No chargeable work starts without your say-so.
  5. The work is done and the watch is tested. A battery replacement takes around five working days. A full service is three to six weeks, because the movement is stripped, rebuilt and then run and timed before anyone signs it off.
  6. It comes back to you insured, set to the second against a radio time signal, with the pressure test printout in the box.

When you will hear back.

The workshop is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and enquiries are answered during those hours. Messages that arrive over a weekend are picked up on Monday morning. If your watch is already with us, replying to the last email you had from us is the fastest route — it keeps the whole history together and lands with the person handling your job.

Who will be working on it.

TAG Works is an authorised TAG Heuer service centre. The work is done by BHI and WOSTEP qualified watchmakers and technicians. Parts come through the TAG Heuer parts account, and model and movement details are taken from TAG Heuer's own database rather than from collector forums. The refurbishment work is carried out by a WOSTEP qualified refurbisher, and the workshop is a member of the British Horological Institute.

Questions we are asked before people send a watch.

Do I need to be local to use you?

No. The great majority of the watches on the bench arrive by post from all over the UK and never come near Lancashire in a customer's hands. Insured return delivery is included in every price quoted, so distance costs you nothing.

Can I just turn up with my watch?

Please telephone first on 01200 760957. It is a workshop rather than a shop, and there are days when the watchmakers are at the bench with cases open. A quick call means somebody is free to look at your watch properly and give you an honest answer while you are here.

Where exactly are you?

6 Poorsland Barn, Slaidburn, Lancashire, BB7 3AE. Slaidburn sits in the Forest of Bowland in the Ribble Valley. The map on this page will take you door to door.

How should I package a watch for posting?

Wrap the watch in bubble wrap or a soft cloth so it cannot move, put it in a small box rather than a padded envelope, and use a tracked and insured service. Leave the original box at home — it adds value to the parcel without adding protection, and a plain outer box attracts less attention in transit.

Will you tell me the price before you do anything?

Always. You receive a written estimate after the watch has been inspected, and nothing chargeable happens until you approve it. If we open it up and find something we did not expect — water damage, corrosion, or a previous repair done badly — we come back to you with a revised figure rather than pressing on.

What does it cost to find out what is wrong?

An estimate costs nothing and puts you under no obligation. If you decide not to go ahead after we have inspected it, the watch is returned to you and we will tell you plainly what it would have needed.

Can you just pressure test my watch?

Not on its own. Pressure testing is done as part of a battery replacement, a repair or a full service, where it is normally included in the price. There is no standalone test, because a pressure test without new seals only tells you what you already suspect.

My watch is very old. Will you still take it?

Almost certainly. Parts availability across the TAG Heuer and Heuer collections is good, including the older quartz references that are no longer made. Send us the reference number from the caseback and we will tell you straight away whether it is something we can do.
